Hotel chef lost his job after stealing £141 worth of alcohol from a shop in Ballymena

A MAN who stole three bottles of Jack Daniel’s, two bottles of Black Bush and tins of beer worth £141 from a shop lost his job as a hotel chef as a result of the case, defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine told Ballymena Magistrates Court.

Lucasz Wach (26), formerly of Prospect Place but now of Rosses Meadow in Ballymena, took the drink from the Co-op at Broughshane Sreet in the town on July 30 this year.

A co-accused was previously dealt with at court for the offence.

Around £100 worth of the stolen alcohol was fit for re-sale.

A prosecutor said CCTV showed two males stealing the alcohol.

Mr Ballentine said the defendant was “apologetic” for what had happened.

He said Wach is now working in a factory in the Rasharkin area.

The defence lawyer said “some good has come” from the matter because Wach had now been abstaining from alcohol.

District Judge Nigel Broderick ordered the defendant to do 120 hours of unpaid work.
