Man (18) is accused of assault and having machete at Ballymena’s Orkney Drive

AN 18-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a male occasioning him actual bodily harm and having a machete in a public place – Orkney Drive in Ballymena.

Reece Carley, of Orkney Drive, is accused in relation to Saturday October 26 this year.

The defendant appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court today via video link from Hydebank Prison where he had been on remand in relation to the charge.

The court heard he had been granted bail at Coleraine Magistrates Court on October 28 subject to an address being agreed by police.

Ballymena Court, on Thursday, heard the defendant now has an address and as part of his bail conditions he is not to enter the Mid & East Antrim Borough Council area.

The case was adjourned to the end of November.
