Man (52) is charged with breaching Sexual Offences Prevention Order by being ‘in the company of females in a private dwelling’ in Ballymena

A 52-year-old man has been charged with breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order in Ballymena.

Brian Edward Galbraith, with a Belfast address, is accused of being ‘in the company of females in a private dwelling’ at Nursery Close and also being under the influence of alcohol in public.

According to the charges he was prohibited from doing both under the terms of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

The defendant, who was using a crutch when he appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday, is also accused of assaulting a police officer.

A defence solicitor said he understood the defendant was allowed to be in the presence of females in a private dwelling provided he is sober.

The defence lawyer said Galbraith is currently out of prison on licence to reside at an address in Belfast but that is no longer available.

The case was adjourned to Ballymena Magistrates Court on March 14 when a bail application was due to be made subject to an address being available.
