Man (59) has case sent to Antrim Crown Court

A 59-year-old man accused of three charges of attempted sexual communication with a child and three charges of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity has had his case sent to Antrim Crown Court.

Harold Burke, with an address listed as Quilly Road, Coleraine, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court and was released on continuing bail.

The charges, which mention three different girl’s forenames, relate to dates in June and July last year.

During a Preliminary Enquiry – the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court – a prosecution lawyer submitted that on the basis of papers before the Magistrates Court there was a case to answer.

A defence solicitor said he had no contrary submissions.

District Judge Liam McNally held there was a case to answer and the defendant was released on continuing bail ahead of the case being mentioned at Antrim Crown Court in September.
