Man (72) denies assault charges

A 72-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting a male and a female.

A charge of possessing an offensive weapon – a hurl – with intent to commit assault – has been withdrawn by prosecutors.

Noel Francis Traynor, of Lough Road, Loughgiel, is accused of committing assaults on October 12 this year.

He appeared in the dock at Coleraine Magistrates Court, where his defence solicitor was Denise Gillan, and the case was adjourned to December 16 to fix a date for a contest.
