Man (72) is set to contest charges next year

A 72-year-old man who has pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting a male and a female is set to contest the charges in February next year.

A charge of possessing an offensive weapon – a hurl – with intent to commit assault – had previously been withdrawn by prosecutors.

Noel Francis Traynor, of Lough Road, Loughgiel, is accused of committing assaults on October 12 this year.

He appeared in the dock at Coleraine Magistrates Court on December 16.
