Man accused of breaching Sexual Offences Prevention Order by allegedly being ‘under influence of alcohol in company of females’ in Ballymena has had prison release licence revoked

A 52-year-old man charged with breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order in Ballymena is back behind bars after having his release licence revoked.

Brian Edward Galbraith, with a Belfast address, is accused of being ‘in the company of females in a private dwelling while under the influence of alcohol’ at Nursery Close and also being under the influence of alcohol in public.

According to the charges he was prohibited from doing both under the terms of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

The defendant, who was using a crutch when he appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday via video link from prison, is also accused of assaulting a police officer.

The charges relate to March 8 this year.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said no application was being made for bail as the defendant’s prison licence had been revoked on Wednesday.

Galbraith was remanded in custody until mid-April.
