Man accused of damaging vehicle with petrol bomb near Slemish has matter sent to Crown Court

A MAN accused of using a petrol bomb and causing damage to a Ford Kuga in connection with an incident near Slemish Mountain last year has had the matter sent to Antrim Crown Court.

Stephen Gary Maternaghan (37), formerly with an address listed as Chichester Park Central in Ballymena and now at Innisrush Road near Portglenone, is charged in relation to an incident at Woodland Park outside Broughshane on November 13 last year.

During a Preliminary Enquiry – the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court – a prosecutor told Ballymena Magistrates Court she believed she could connect the defendant to the charges.

Defence barrister Stephen Law said he had no contrary submissions.

The defendant was released on continuing bail of £500 and the case was adjourned to November 21 at Antrim Crown Court.
