Man accused of dangerous driving whilst being banned from the roads is released on bail

A MAN accused of offences including dangerous driving and being on the roads whilst disqualified has been granted bail.

Jack Carson (20), of Carnduff Park, Ballycastle, is charged with offences relating to Quay Road, Ballycastle, on Saturday July 6.

He is also accused of driving a Volkswagen Bora without insurance or a licence, failing to stop after an accident, failing to remain at the accident scene and failing to report the accident.

Carson is also accused of obstructing a police constable in the execution of his duty.

He appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday September 2 via video link from Hydebank Prison where he had been on remand.

The bail application was not objected by police, a defence lawyer said.

As part of his bail the defendant is to reside at Leyland Road in Ballycastle and be “supervised” by his mother.

He is to have no contact with anybody involved with his case.

Bail was granted on the sum of £500 along with a surety for a similar amount and the case was adjourned to the end of September.
