Man accused of murdering his grandmother (82) has case further adjourned at Ballymena Court

PROSECUTORS hope to soon be able to set a date for a Preliminary Enquiry – the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court – regarding a man charged with murdering his 82-year-old grandmother.

Alan Gingles (32), with an address listed as Dromaine Drive in Larne, is accused of murdering Elizabeth Dobbin in March this year.

The case was mentioned at Ballymena Magistrates Court, sitting in Antrim, on Thursday.

A prosecutor said they were working towards getting the file papers ready for a Preliminary Enquiry.

The case was adjourned to mid-September when, the prosecutor said, it is hoped a date can then be set for the Preliminary Enquiry.
