A MAN has admitted causing criminal damage to a car during an incident which he claimed was sparked by a remark made about a member of his family.
Richard Carlin (44), of Chichester Park East in Ballymena, committed an offence on March 9 this year.
The case was mentioned at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday which was told the defendant had been living at a hostel at the time and his life had been in “free fall”.
Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said his client is now doing an I.T. course in prison and plans not to go back to the same lifestyle when he is released from prison where he had recently been sent in connection with other offences.
For the criminal damage charge, the defendant was given a five months jail term, suspended for a year, and he also has to pay compensation of £350.
