Man bought car and ‘naively thought it was already covered by insurance’

A man who bought a car, naively thought it was already covered by insurance, his solicitor Stewart Ballentine told Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.

However, Christian Komlosy (19), a Romanian living at Cambridge Avenue in Ballymena, was detected without insurance in Ballymena last December.

Mr Ballentine said when the matter came to light his client obtained insurance straight away.

The defendant admitted having no insurance, being an unaccompanied L driver and not displaying L plates and was given eight penalty points and fined £300.
