A man caught speeding in a vehicle with defective tyres has been given three penalty points and been fined £300.
Conor McCormick (21), of Tully Road in the Dunnyvadden near Ballymena, was detected at Moorfields Road in Ballymena on March 27 this year.
He was 21mph over the speed limit which had been 40mph for a stretch of the road.
Defence solicitor John McAtamney told Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant was an apprentice electrician who drives all over Ireland.
The lawyer said there were different speed limits on parts of the road which was normally 60mph and the defendant had not been paying attention whilst driving through the restricted speed area.
