Man charged with stealing items including eight electric toothbrushes from dental surgery near police station has case further adjourned

A MAN charged with breaking into a dental surgery close to a police station has had his case further adjourned to January when a Preliminary Enquiry – the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court – is due to be held.

Derek Kirk (44), formerly with an address at the Simon Community at Lodge Road in Coleraine but now of the Simon Community in Armagh city, is charged in relation to April this year.

He is accused of burglary at a dental surgery at Lodge Road in Coleraine when, according to the court charge sheet, items taken included £530 in cash, eight electric toothbrushes, a prescription pad, a sharps box and a camera and flash.

He is also charged with assaulting a police officer; resisting another police officer and possessing Pregabalin.

The case was mentioned at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday.
