A MAN with more than 160 convictions has pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to an electronic monitoring tag despite insisting it was accidentally broken after catching on a bath tap.
Tony Simpson (32), of Shane Court, Broughshane, broke the tag on November 19 last year.
The defendant was in the dock at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday which heard that after caution, Simpson had told police: “It got caught on the tap in the bath”.
The full details have yet to be outlined at court.
The matter has been adjourned to March for a pre-sentence report.
