Man denies charge of having two meat cleavers with intent to commit assault at a Ballymena takeaway


A man is denying charges of burglary with intent to cause unlawful damage at a takeaway in Ballymena and also possession of two meat cleavers as offensive weapons with intent to commit assault.

De Chuang Pan (40), of Bedford Meadows in Antrim, has also pleaded not guilty to assaulting two males and making threats to kill them on the same date – January 11 this year.

However, Ballymena Magistrates Court heard on March 14, the defendant has pleaded guilty causing criminal damage to lighting and telephones relating to January 11.

The charges are connected to an alleged incident at the ‘New Panda’ in Henry Street in Ballymena.

The case was adjourned to March 28.
