Man denies charges following alleged factory car park incident

A man is to contest charges of assaulting two ‘unknown’ females; having a screwdriver as an offensive weapon and being disorderly at a car park beside the Moy Park factory in Ballymena.

Ovidiu Varga (35), with an address at Jerusalem Street in the ‘Holy Land’ area of Belfast, faces four charges relating to January 4, 2018.

The case was mentioned at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Defence barrister Neil Moore said the defendant, a Romanian, is currently in Romania but that he will be back to contest the case.

The matter has been adjourned to April 25.
