Man denies fraud over £60 taxi fare

A man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of fraud by false representation which allegedly had involved him claiming at the time that he had enough money to pay a taxi fare of £62.50.

Owen Colville Rowell (71), whose address was given as Galgorm Road in Ballymena, is alleged to have committed the offence on June 6 this year.

The defendant appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court via video link from Maghaberry Prison and was remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned to June 27 to fix a date for a contest.
