Man ends up in Ballymena Court because of ‘heavy rain’

Ballymena Court.

A man caught without insurance whilst driving his brother’s vehicle claimed he normally walked to work at Moy Park in Ballymena but he was using the car as no else was available to take him and it was “raining very heavily”.

Ciprian Cojocaru (19), of Dunclug Gardens in Ballymena, had the offence detected at Frys Road on December 11 last year.

The defendant appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court, where his legal representative was solicitor Stewart Ballentine, and admitted an insurance offence.

Cojocaru, who also admitted a driving licence offence, was banned from driving for a month and fined £250.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said there had been “no good reason” why the defendant had driven.
