Man entered woman’s vehicle though passenger window and said: ‘I’m going to wreck your car’

Ballymena Court

A MAN entered a vehicle through a passenger window and applied a handbrake whilst telling a woman: “I’m going to wreck your car”.

Jordan Philpott (20), of Rocavan Meadow, Broughshane, admitted charges of causing criminal damage to the vehicle and assaulting a female.

A prosecutor told the January 30 sitting of Ballymena Magistrates Court that police attended a report of a “domestic incident” on October 2 last year.

It was heard a woman arrived after receiving a message and during the incident in the vehicle she was scared she was going to be assaulted.

The defendant admitted later that he had “just lost it”.

Defence barrister Stephen Law said it was a “classic cry for help”.

The court heard the defendant had issues with his mental heath.

District Judge Nigel Broderick gave the defendant a one year conditional discharge saying: “You were obviously undergoing poor mental health when this occurred.”

The defendant also had to pay compensation of £38 for damage caused during the incident.
