Man failed to do Community Service ‘to save up for Christmas’

A COURT heard a man missed Community Service because he was working on a number of Saturdays to try and save money for Christmas in connection with a child.

Jason Fleming (26), of Castle Place in Coleraine, was previously ordered to do 80 hours of Community Service for a theft offence but he failed to show up for unpaid work on Saturday September 21 this year.

At Coleraine Magistrates Court the Community Service was replaced with a four months prison term, suspended for three years.

District Judge Peter King warned the defendant any future offending would be met with custody.
