A MAN who ran off from a vehicle in Ballymena town centre before being located a short distance away has admitted a charge of failing to provide a specimen of blood.
Aaron Hunter (37), of Galgorm Road, Ballymena, had been in a vehicle parked at the Co Op in Broughshane Street on October 31 this year, the town’s Magistrates Court was told.
A concerned member of the public had taken the key and when the defendant ran off before being located he was slurring his words to police.
The defendant told police he had parked the vehicle and had gone “for a sleep”.
Defence solicitor David McIlrath said the defendant suffers from depression and he had not taken his medication the previous night.
The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £200.
