A man took a card a woman accidentally left in an ATM and used it to add money to a gaming site for his son, a court heard.
Grzegorz Karcinski (43), originally from Poland but now living at Dunclug Park in Ballymena, appeared at the town’s Magistrates Court via video link from Maghaberry Prison on Thursday and admitted charges of theft and fraud by false representation.
A prosecutor said that in November last year a woman accidentally left her bank card after using an ATM and CCTV showed the defendant using the machine after her.
The card was later used to spend £104 on a website.
The defendant made a full admission and expressed regret.
The court heard Karcinski brought the card home to add money to a gaming site for his son and the money has since been refunded to the woman.
A defence solicitor said the offence was out of character and had been a “moment of madness”.
The defendant was fined £300.
