A man who had Diazepam tablets at the Lighthouse hostel in Ballymena has been put on Probation for a year.
Seamus Martin Doherty (22), with an address given as the hostel at Linenhall Street, had the offence detected in April this year.
He pleaded guilty to possessing a Class C drug.
A prosecutor told Ballymena Magistrates Court staff noticed the defendant was under the influence of a substance and when police arrived Doherty was flushing tablets down a toilet and others fell on the ground.
The defendant, who pleaded guilty to the offence initially told police the tablets “must have been planted”.
