Man in court after being found with ‘grass’ at hotel

Police found a man with cannabis at the Atlantic Hotel in Portrush who described the substance as “grass” and admitted it was his.

Thomas Gerard Michael Cullen (27), of Springbank Close in Poleglass near Lisburn, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on March 4 and was fined £250 for possessing a Class B drug.

£35 worth of the drug was found on January 30 this year and the defendant told police he was using cannabis for several years due to mental health issues.

The defendant told the court: “I’m sorry, I’m trying to get help to come off it”.
