Man is accused of theft from employer

A MAN is accused of fraud by abuse of position and theft as an employee.

Kevin Henderson (28), of Linenhall Street in Ballymena, faces the following charge: ‘Defendant on the 29th day of August 2019 whilst occupying a position in which you were expected to safeguard, or not to act against, the financial interests of TK Maxx, dishonestly abused that position in that you loaded £119.96 onto a store card and used it to purchase items of clothing to the value of £43.07, with the intention, by means of the abuse of that position to make a gain for yourself or another or to cause loss to TK Maxx or to expose TK Maxx to a risk of a loss, in breach of section 4 of the Fraud Act 2006, contrary to Section 1 of the Fraud Act 2006’.

He is also charged with stealing a pair of sunglasses and a belt to the value of £30 belonging to TK Maxx on a date unknown.

The case was mentioned at Ballymena Magistrates Court on December 19 where the defence solicitor was David McIlrath.

It was adjourned to January 2.
