Man is charged with four counts of indecently assaulting a female

Louis Feeny

A MAN has been charged with four counts of indecently assaulting the same female.

Louis Feeny (69), whose address was given as HM Prison Magilligan but who is originally from Coleraine, was in handcuffs when he appeared in the dock at Coleraine Magistrates Court.

The charges relate to dates between September 1, 1998 and December 31, 2001.

The defendant said he understood the charges and he did not object to the holding of a Preliminary Enquiry – the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court.

A prosecutor submitted that on the basis of the papers before the court there was a case to answer and a defence barrister had no contrary submissions.

District Judge Peter King said a case had been established.

The defence barrister said the defendant was currently a serving prisoner who had a record including a “large number of relevant cases”.

Feeny was remanded in custody to appear at Antrim Crown Court in mid-April.
