Man is charged with having telescopic baton in a public place

A MAN is accused of having an offensive weapon – a telescopic baton – in a public place.

Gary Hanley (22), of Quarry Hill in Ahoghill, is alleged to have committed an offence on July 24 this year at Gracefield in Gracehill.

Defence barrister Stephen Law told Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant’s solicitor had written to prosecutors to see if there could be an “alternative resolution” in the case.

The case has been adjourned to Antrim Magistrates Court on October 8.
