Man is charged with thefts from Ballymena shops

A MAN has been charged with thefts from shops in Ballymena.

Daniel Madden (23), with addresses given as Orchard Hill in Crumlin and at Dunclug Gardens in Ballymena, is accused of stealing two baskets of goods worth £84 from Co-Op and two bottles of wine worth £18 from Marks & Spencer on September 24 last year.

He is also accused of stealing goods on three different dates last October at the Frys Road Spar; damaging a display stand; being disorderly; attempting to damage a door; assaulting a man and damaging a police vehicle.

The defendant was in the dock at Ballymena Magistrates Court and the cases were adjourned to September 19.
