Man jailed after being caught with drugs in police cell

A man caught with the Class C drug Xanax in a police cell has been jailed for two months.

Stefan Ralston (29), with an address listed as Larne Road in Ballymena, committed the offence on June 2 this year.

The defendant appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday via video link from Maghaberry Prison.

Defence barrister Neil Moore said the defendant had struggled with addictions for some time.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said the defendant had a poor record for drugs offences.
