Man made ‘obscene’ gesture to police during North West 200 motorbike races

Court

A MAN who made a middle-fingered “obscene gesture” to officers in a passing police land rover in Portrush during the North West 200 motorbike races has been fined £200.

Arthur Hanson (31), of Mark Street in Portrush, admitted a charge of being disorderly at Eglinton Street in the town on May 18 this year.

A prosecutor said the area was busy at the time with people attending the races.

The defendant’s case was dealt with in his absence at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday where the defence solicitor was John Murphy.
