Man stole razor set worth £18 while waiting for prescription

Ballymena Court

A MAN wandered around a pharmacy whilst waiting to collect a prescription and then stole a Gillette razor set worth £18.

Sean William Leitch (33), of Ballyclug Mews in Ballymena – previously described as “no stranger” to the courts – committed theft on March 12 this year.

He was detected on CCTV at Boots in Harryville and said drugs interfered with his memory.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine told Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant attends Community Addiction Services and is now “drug free” and has his own address which he is decorating.

The solicitor said Leitch was under the influence of drugs at the time of the theft.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said if Leitch had been dealt with in court for the current offence at the time of other matters the sentence would probably have “run in” with the others.

The defendant was given a three months jail term, suspended for a year.
