A MAN was assaulted following an alleged dispute about a fridge, the town’s Magistrates Court heard.
Alin Vezeteu (39), of Princes Street, Ballymena, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man on March 21 this year.
The court heard the defendant and the other man met at a shop and there had been an argument.
The defendant pushed the other man to the ground and no injuries were sustained.
A defence solicitor said the men had originally been friends but a dispute had arisen after Vezeteu – who is originally from Romania – had lent the injured party a fridge which had been in his property.
The fridge belonged to Vezeteu’s landlord and when the landlord asked for it back the defendant was told it was sold and Vezeteu had to pay for the fridge, the defence solicitor said.
The defendant was fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 compensation to the victim.
