A man with a Broughshane address has admitted possessing drugs has been given a two months jail term, suspended for a year.
Glen Taylor (26), of Rocavan Meadow, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court.
Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said drugs had been the “downfall” of the defendant but was now “very much addressing” the issue and he is now involved in a church group.
The lawyer said that, “unsolicited”, a person had turned up at the defendant’s home the night before the court with a reference letter to be handed to the judge.
After reading the reference, District Judge Nigel Broderick described it as “very glowing” and said Taylor should thank the individual who had “identified some hope for your future”.
