Man who previously denied stealing jeans worth £1,000 in Ballymena has charges withdrawn

Ballymena Court

A MAN who previously pleaded not guilty to stealing over £1,000 worth of jeans from River Island in Ballymena has had the two theft charges he faced withdrawn.

Sean Paul McFarlane (30), of Leeson Street in Belfast, was alleged to have taken 17 pairs worth £680 on October 19, 2018, and ten pairs of jeans worth £450 on December 2 that year.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday, where his defence barrister was Chris Sherrard, the defendant had the charges withdrawn by the prosecution.

The defence lawyer said the allegation had been one of “joint enterprise”.
