Man with lengthy record gets conditional discharge after being caught with cannabis

A MAN with a lengthy record including six for drugs has been given a one year conditional discharge after being detected with four grammes of cannabis.

Kyle Rainey (28), of Lanntara in Ballymena, admitted possessing drugs after a detection on June 26 this year.

The defendant was not present at Ballymena Magistrates Court where his defence solicitor was Ciaran Shiels.

Deputy District Judge Trevor Browne said given the “vintage” of the defendant’s record and the fact the current case was one charge involving a small amount he was giving the defendant a conditional discharge.
