A Balnamore mechanic caught speeding on his way to work has been banned from driving for two months.
Ben McDonald (26), of Esdale Gardens, was detected doing 40mph in a 30mph zone at Knocklynn Road in Coleraine in November last year.
The vehicle did not have MOT and at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday March 15 he was also fined £375.
The defendant had been sitting on nine penalty points when the offences came to light.
Defence solicitor Garrett Greene said the vehicle had been purchased the day before and the defendant had been trying to get to work ahead of 9am on the date in question.
Deputy District Judge Sean O’Hare told the defendant that when he had been sitting on nine points he should have been taking more care.
