Men appear in court in connection with ‘free-for-all’ at a Ballymena bar

A NUMBER of men  accused in connection with was referred to at an earlier court hearing as a “free-for-all” in a Ballymena bar have appeared at the town’s Magistrates Court.

Wayne Scullion (38) of Drumtara and Mark Laverty (31) of Duke Street – both Ballymena – along with Ryan James Thomas Calderwood (30), of Rocavan Meadow, Broughshane, are all jointly charged with causing GBH to Aled Hamilton with intent, affray and possessing a weapon.

In Scullion’s case the alleged weapon was a chair; Laverty’s alleged weapons were a pool cue, pint glass, baton and a chair and Calderwood is accused of having a pool cue, baton and a chair as offensive weapons.

A prosecutor said the full file has still to be sent to them by police and the case was adjourned to January.

The charges are connected to incidents at The Ladysmith Arms on October 27 this year.

The men’s alleged victim and another man also previously appeared in court charged in connection with October 27.
