Motorist was caught doing twice the speed limit

Ballymena Court

A MOTORIST caught doing twice the speed limit on the Garron Road at Glenariffe has been given four penalty points and fined £100.

Neil John O’Boyle (44), of Gortin Park in Carnlough, was detected doing 60mph in a 30mph zone on January 25 this year.

He pleaded guilty to speeding and at Ballymena Magistrates Court, defence solicitor Sara Edge said the defendant “holds his hands up”.

The court heard the defendant, a self-employed contractor who paints electrical masts, had been “under a bit of pressure” and was late for another job.
