A PART-time barman who said he had two and a half pints after finishing a shift was caught drink driving in Ballymena.
Jason Irwin (20), of Cambridge Avenue in the town, was detected in the Galgorm Road area on August 31 this year.
At Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday, where the defence solicitor was Nigel McIlrath, the defendant admitted a charge of driving with excess alcohol in his breath and was banned from the road for a year and fined £200.
The defendant had an alcohol in breath reading of 52 with the legal limit being 35.
The court heard the defendant, who said he had not eaten anything on the day in question, had a previously clear record and was “embarrassed”.
