Police spoke to a BMW driver at 3.23am and found he was over the limit.
Aidan Small (27), of Meadowside in Glenavy was detected at Main Street, Crumlin, on May 24 this year.
At Antrim Magistrates Court he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with excess alcohol in his breath.
When police spoke to the defendant in Crumlin they could smell liquor and the defendant’s speech was slurred, a prosecutor said.
The defendant had an alcohol in breath reading of 53 with the legal limit being 35.
A defence lawyer said it was a “lapse” by the defendant who was the primary carer for a family member.
The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £250.
