Police find drugs after spotting ‘blue-coloured substance’ around man’s mouth

Ballymena Court

Police saw a “blue coloured substance” around a man’s lips and they then discovered he had a number of Diazepam tablets and cannabis.

Nicky Millar (29), of Drumtara, Ballymena, came to police attention on April 25 at Ballyclug Mews in the town.

Meanwhile, on May 16 police responded to a report of a disturbance at Ballymoney Road Car Park in Ballymena.

Millar was intoxicated and was verbally abusive to police and others as well as “making threats” to officers.

Defence solicitor John McAtamney told Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday Millar was a “street drinker” and when “taken away from his alcohol” he had reacted to police.

The defendant was at court for sentencing on charges of possessing drugs and being disorderly and was ordered to do 40 hours of unpaid work and also given a one year conditional discharge.
