Police put on siren to stop driver using hand-held mobile phone

POLICE used their siren to stop a motorist they saw using a hand-held mobile phone at Orkney Drive in Ballymena, the town’s Magistrates Court heard.

Julie McFall (45), with an address listed as Ballymoney Road in Ballymena, was spotted on March 15, 2018, and she also failed to produce her driving licence within seven days.

Meanwhile, on March 22 this year she was detected doing 37mph in a 30mph zone at Cushendall Road, Ballymena.

Deputy District Judge Trevor Browne fined Julie McFall £250 along with three penalty points for the phone matter.

The defendant was given another three penalty points and fines totaling another £175 for the other offences.
