Police spotted drink driver at 6.40am

POLICE on patrol in Ballymena saw a car veer towards the verge on several occasions at Larne Road Link in the town at 6.40am on June 14 this year and then discovered the motorist was driving with excess alcohol in his breath.

Robert Adger (54), of Knockeen Crescent, Ballymena, had an alcohol in breath reading of 47 – the limit is 35.

Defence solicitor David McIlrath said the defendant had a completely clear record.

The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £200 when he appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on July 11.
