Red traffic light incident brought food delivery driver to attention of police

Ballymena Court

A MAN doing a food delivery who was spotted failing to stop for a red traffic light in the centre of Ballymena was then found not to have the proper insurance cover for the work.

Emmanuel Okai-Kwai (34), of Tobar Park in Cullybackey, came to police attention at North Road on June 22 this year.

He was given a fixed penalty ticket for the traffic light offence and police then discovered that although the defendant had insurance for a Ford Mondeo it did not cover food deliveries.

Defence barrister Thomas McKeever told Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant had been helping a friend out.

The defendant was given six penalty points and fined £150.
