Retired electrician’s ‘favour’ leads to court

Ballymena Court

A RETIRED electrician who was doing some work in licensed premises “as a favour” then met friends in the bar before being caught driving a van whilst having excess alcohol in his breath.

Charles White (68), of Raglan Place in Ballymena, was detected at a police vehicle checkpoint in Ballymena town centre on December 12 last year.

He had an alcohol in breath reading of 46 with the legal limit being 35.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court on January 2, where the defence solicitor was David McIlrath, the defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £200.
