Street cider drinker who urinated in police van gets suspended jail sentence

A man who deliberately urinated inside a police cell van after being arrested for drinking cider outside public toilets in Coleraine has had a Probation Order revoked and replaced with a three months prison term, suspended for 18 months.

Aidan McMullan (38), originally with an address in Coleraine but now listed with a Belfast address, committed the original offence in June 2018.

Also last year he stole sausages from premises in Coleraine.

A previous court heard the defendant urinated three times inside a police van which had to be taken off the road and which cost £67 to clean.

The previous court heard McMullan was an alcoholic.

The defendant appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday via video link from Maghaberry Prison.
