Suspended prison sentence for man with screwdriver who was convicted of two charges of assaulting ‘unknown female’ near Ballymena factory

A MAN previously convicted of two charges of assaulting an ‘unknown’ female; having a screwdriver as an offensive weapon and being disorderly at a car park beside the Moy Park factory in Ballymena has been given a three months jail sentence suspended for a year.

Ovidiu Varga (36), with an address listed as University Street, Belfast, was charged in relation to January 4, 2018.

A previous court heard the defendant has links to Romania.

The case at Antrim Courthouse had previously been adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
