Suspended sentence for man who stole X-box controller in run up to Christmas

Ballymena Court

A MAN who stole an X-Box controller from Rutledge Recruitment and Training at Thomas Street in Ballymena in the run up to Christmas has been given a three months jail sentence suspended for a year.

Declan McConnell (20), of Dunclug Park, Ballymena, appeared at the town’s Magistrates Court on Thursday in connection with the incident relating to December 17 last year.

He told police another person had told him about the presence of the controller.

In another incident police spoke to a person who was smoking what appeared to be cannabis near Poundland in Ballymena.

The person was asked to put it out but McConnell then took it and re-lit it before handing it to police.

A defence barrister said the defendant needed to “get a handle” on the misuse of drugs.

The defendant was also fined £100.
