Teenage moped rider’s confidence ‘knocked’ after collision at Craigs Road near Cullybackey

Ballymena Court

A moped ended up in a ditch after colliding with a car at Craigs Road near Cullybackey and now a student’s confidence as far as driving is concerned, has taken a bad knock, Ballymena Magistrates Court heard.

Sean Mitchell (18), of Parkmore Heights, Ballymena, admitted driving without due care and attention on February 22 this year.

He appeared at court on Thursday.

A prosecutor said a car driver was turning right into a lane when a moped “came out of nowhere”.

Defence solicitor Emma McCann said the defendant had been overtaking a “slow moving lorry” when the collision happened and his confidence regarding driving was now “totally knocked”.

The defendant was given six penalty points and fined £100.
